Dr. David Dorries is an outstanding professor in the School of Theology and Missions at Oral Roberts University. He is a historian and scholar who has studied the revival and renewal movements, particularly the pre-Pentecostal, Pentecostal and Charismatic revivals. Dr. Dorries is a gifted teacher, comfortable in the classroom and the pulpit. He knows his subject like a scholar, but he teaches it like a preacher. — Rev. Clark Whitten, Founding Pastor, Grace Church, Longwood, Florida
As a student in Dr. Dorries’ church history course, I remember every class begun by an anointed devotion. Always, the main emphasis was about the Kairos moment of the manifestation of Jesus Christ in the lives of His sons and daughters. This touch is a caring touch to meet the needs, touch the sick, and heal the brokenhearted. The teaching of Kairos Ministries is not manipulative, but it is directed and led by the Holy Spirit. This teaching is done by the meekness, gentleness, and sensitivity of Jesus Christ that is manifested through his servant, Dr. David Dorries. I can summarize the goal of this ministry as a zealous vision to see people eager to possess promises, conquer the kingdom of darkness, and close the mouths of lions (adversaries).
— Rev. Fadi Zoughbi, Associate Pastor, House of Bread Congregation, Bethlehem, Palestine
For the past 25 years Dr. David Dorries has been my teacher, mentor, pastor and friend. His unique approach on the study of history and revival had made a profound impact in my life and ministry as well as thousands of students at the ORU campus. Dr. Dorries expresses his message with humility, kindness, authority, and the power of the Holy Spirit. Every minister of the Gospel and Church leader will benefit greatly from his ministry.
— Dr. Edgar Gonzalez, Pastor, Templo Evangelistico Internacional, Tulsa, Oklahoma
David Dorries is a teacher who has the wisdom of lessons from Church history and a heart for the moves of God in this end time. Many in the Houston area have been inspired by his teaching and have been blessed by his spirit and ask regularly when he will return to minister in our area. Some were deeply touched as he laid hands and ministered personally to them during ministry times. I have first hand experience that his burden to train the Body of Christ is more than a mere vision. I would, without hesitation, recommend Dr. Dorries to minister to persons who are at any level of Christian maturity or understanding. He is sensitive to the needs of the people he is sent to and shares the truth of God as an anointed minister.
— Rev. Marty Gabler, Prophet, SEEC Ministries, Spring, Texas

Testimonials from Students

Hello Dr. Dorries! I hope this message finds you doing well, experiencing joy, and encountering God in new ways as we approach a new season of life! I am messaging you just to tell you that I am thinking of you! Seth and I are graduating in May from TKU and we are writing our capstone paper. Part of the paper is writing about mentors we have gleaned from during our time at The King’s and you are the first person that came to my mind and the first individual that I am writing about. I still think about Pentecostal and Charismatic Movement all the time and all the amazing things Holy Spirit did and how he moved in that class. I wanted to say thank you for pioneering something that was so important for me and my education. That class equipped me more than any other class did- it was in that class that I learned how to step out in faith and prophesy. I saw visions and smelled scents in the Spirit that I still am mind blown about. A lot of that class taught me that I am empowered and I have a voice that God has given me to use. Thank you for being yielded to Holy Spirit and surrendered to him, it has changed and marked so many students! I know God the Father is proud of you for how you steward his presence and Him well. I couldn’t help but reach out and encourage you in any way for the impact that you have made on my life and my ministry!
— Kaily Morrow, Master's Graduate, The King's University
Hey Dr. Dorries! Laura and I are thinking about you and praying for you this morning. We are writing our Senior Capstone papers and crying tears of joy while reminiscing on the amazing times we have had learning and being taught under you. Thank you for pouring your heart and soul out to every student that sat under you. I know from the impact that have had on me and my wife that by the end of time, millions and millions of people will have been impacted because of YOUR impact. Thank you Dr. Dorries for your love and passion of Jesus and the Holy Spirit that you have poured out on us. I am forever grateful for you and I love you more than you know. I hope all is well with your travels and teachings. Talk to you soon!
— Michael Leslie, Graduate, The King's University
Dr. Dorries, I want to thank you for the depth of impact your teaching and mentoring has had on my life! Thank you for imparting your knowledge, heart, and spirit in me. You have helped me go deeper in the Lord, and a lot through looking into the historical lives of saints and drawing from their wellsprings and writings. You have inspired me in such a way that it has made me passionate about the life of solitude which I had never seen before – thank you for opening my eyes! I better experience true devotion with the Lord since knowing and learning under you for three years now! When I think about graduating, one of the most bitter thoughts is not being able to be in your classroom anymore! You have been a honest, wise, and humble example to me and I reference you anytime I speak of my experience at the Kings University. I am forever grateful to your impartation because it wasn’t merely facts which fade, but you spiritually imparted in my spirit which is eternally impactful. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank you for being a spiritual father in my life. I love you!! Sincerely,
— Macy Benjamin, Graduate, The King's University
“Early in my time at The King’s University, I was looking into professors and classes that other students recommended as the best. Several people recommended both Dr. Dorries and his Charismatic Pentecostal Movement class as one that “went deep.” Dr. Dorries was very gracious and allowed me to sit in on his lectures several times, which I did.

It was a great class. We not only learned about the many people who had been moved by God to dedicate themselves to what He wanted to do in their time, but Dr. Dorries made time for the Holy Spirit to move in our classroom. He began class with prayer and welcomed the Spirit to come in among us, and I witnessed many blessings bestowed on the class. I am happy to share my own great blessing.

One day, as I showed up for class, my head was full of a desire I’d been pursuing: the gift of tongues. I had told God several years before that I did not want this gift, because my mentors and friends were wary of it, and the teaching I received about it was slanted and prejudicial. In recent years, I had begun repenting, telling God that my heart was changed, and I wanted every gift the Holy Spirit had to give me. However, I figured this was a matter of private prayer with the Lord. As we began the class, Dr. Dorries, said, “I want to start class, and I believe that the Holy Spirit has some special gift for someone here today.” A student walked up to Dr. Dorries and whispered in his ear. Dr. Dorries looked up and said, “I believe that the Spirit wants to give someone here the gift of tongues. Allison, are you praying for your spirit language?” I began to cry, and I answered, “Yes!” He invited me to the front. He added, “There’s one other person. Anyone else?” Another young lady lifted her hand with tear-filled eyes and joined me. Dr. Dorries’ only instruction to us was, “Alright, begin to pray — but not in English!” We were nervous, but as we opened our mouths to pray, languages that we had spoken came out! I remember crying and praying in this prayer language and being so grateful to God for gifting it, and to Dr. Dorries for being open to what the Spirit wanted to do for us. I will never forget that day.

I want to say that I still pray in this beautiful prayer language today. When I am alone, I often pray in it, and when I am feeling very unwell, often I will not feel better and see results until I pray in it. I have had headaches, neckaches, and ear pain disappear after praying in tongues. On occasion, when asked, I have prayed for people who were sick, and they told me, in amazement, that they felt no more pain. I have also been asked to pray for people whose issue was depression or discouragement, and I can say that both they and I felt the Holy Spirit move on their behalf. They walked away at least feeling encouraged, if not fully better. This gift has changed my life, and it would not have happened that day if my professor had not listened to and obeyed the voice of the Holy Spirit. I will always be grateful.”
